LATE SHOW host Stephen Colbert grabbed a live mic Sunday night and took a few shots at presidential hopeful Donald Trump during last minute preparations for the Republican National Convention.

Colbert — dressed in HUNGER GAMES gear — managed to hop on stage undetected and began banging a gavel.

“It is my honor to hereby launch and begin the 2016 Republican Hungry for Power Games,” he joked.

Grabbed by what appeared to be a security guard, he the then quipped:  “Look, I know I’m not supposed to be up here, but let’s be honest, neither is Donald Trump.”

Late night hosts from just about every show have been jockeying to provide the most entertaining coverage of the RNC.

Colbert will air his shows live at 11:30 PM ET during both the Republican and Democratic Conventions.  Special guests including Elizabeth Warren, John Oliver, Allison Janney and former U.S. Congressman Anthony Weiner will be on hand to provide commentary.

Seth Meyers announced last week that he will also air his show live on Thursday evening July 21, immediately following Trump’s acceptance speech.

The Republican National Convention kicks off tonight with coverage expected on all major networks and news channels.

Featured speakers include Antonio Sabato, Jr., Scott Baio and Melania Trump.
