‘AGT’: Laura Bretan, 13, Wins ‘Romania’s Got Talent’

Is she the act to beat this season?

Laura Bretan Is The Winner of 'Romania's Got Talent'

Laura Bretan — the 13 year old opera sensation who wowed the judges last week on AMERICA’S GOT TALENT — is no surprise discovery.

By the time the Chicago area teen earned Mel B’s golden buzzer on last week’s premiere episode, she had already emerged as a front-runner to win ROMANIA’S GOT TALENT.

Over the weekend, she took home the grand prize in that competition.

She also won the 2014 Stars of Tomorrow and Super Top Dog competitions (for performers 14 and under) at New York’s legendary Apollo Theater.

Laura is of Romanian ancestry. Her grandfather, who passed away last year, was her biggest fan and encouraged her to fly overseas and compete.

Per Romanian-Insider.com:

“I’m very nervous. I’ve never believed that something like this is possible, I have no words to explain what happened tonight,” Laura said after winning Romania’s Got Talent.

“I’m speechless. I actually have no words to express how much happiness I feel now after the winners’ talents amazed us for more than six seasons, and now the talent of little Laura not only breaks our souls, penetrating deep into them, but also breaks boundaries, managing to amaze millions of people! My sincere congratulations! Good luck!” Andra, one of the most popular pop singers in Romania and one jury member at Romania’s Got Talent wrote on her Facebook page.

Laura received 120,000 Euros for finishing first. She would take home $1 million for winning AGT.

But there is still a long way to go.

“Literally, it is anybody’s game,” Mel B. point tells TheTVPage.com.

“Who knows what is going to happen when we go to the live shows. Laura has been pushed through by me to the live shows. When the live shows happen, it is up to America to decide who goes through. From where I am standing, she was such a humble, beautiful little girl that had no idea how good she was.

“As soon as she started singing, she just captured everybody’s attention. What I love about her is that from her pre-interview you had no idea that she had such a powerful, confident stage presence. Until she actually went into her audition. She was literally like a seasoned pro. Like she had been doing this forever.”

AMERICA’S GOT TALENT airs Tuesdays at 8:00 PM on NBC.
