That includes the four celebrity coached from NBC’s THE VOICE.
Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera and Pharrell Williams were all on hand at Hyde nightclub on Sunset Boulevard last night, where they talked to the press about the loss of a true music icon.
“I never met the guy and I wish I could have,” Blake said. “It’s beyond sad, feels like one of those days there was an attack somewhere, it’s that big of a blow… I don’t think anybody saw this coming… I’m still not sure why this had to happen… I still can’t believe we’re talking about it right now.”
– Blake Shelton to Extra
“I was honored by his presence, his work had such an impression on me, his physical presence will be missed, but he was generous with his work, it’s the way he wanted it.”
– Pharrell Williams to Extra.
“[I’ll remember] just the great times that we had and just constantly being inspired by how he did things his way [and] never let anybody deter what he wanted to accomplish creatively and musically. As a musician, I can’t tell you how much that’s rubbed off on me.” The Season 10 judge added that he hadn’t seen Prince in a while but was lucky to call him a friend.”
– Adam Levine to People
“He influenced more than just music for me. He was such a fearless guy who would always follow his own path. And I think it’s a really rare thing, more and more these days, very rare for someone to do that. He stood for so much, as far as creative freedom. There’s too much to say and it’s all very overwhelming, and I’m still kind of in shock. But I’m gonna miss him. And I wish now that I was able to spend some more time with him while he was here.”
– Blake Shelton to Billboard
