“It is the farewell season. I love both of them."

Everyone’s a winner!

Trent Harmon was crowned the 15th (and final?) AMERICAN IDOL last night — but runner-up La’Porsha Renae will end up with a record deal as well.

The announcement was made just moments after the confetti stopped falling inside the Dolby Theatre and TheTVPage.com was there to get the scoop!

“We are going to sign both of them,” Scott Brochetta, head of Big Machine Records told a group of not-so-shocked reporters backstage.

“It is the farewell season.  I love both of them.  We are going to sign both of them.”

Trent will release his first CD on Big Machine Records, where label mates will include Taylor Swift and Jennifer Nettles.

“We are going to make a Justin Timberlake country record,” Brochetta said. “Justin ain’t gonna make it, so we are.”

La’Porsha will be the first artists signed to a partnership between Big Machine and Motown.

“I think La’Porsha’s record writes itself,” he said.  “It’s Queen La’Porsha as far as I am concerned.  We are going to make a killer, diva soul R&B record.”

Trent’s victory shocked many IDOL viewers, who expected the crown to go to Renae, a 22 year-old single mom, whose story of surviving domestic abuse helped her become an early front-runner.

“It is a momentum game and La’Porsha was always the one to beat,” Brochetta admits.  “Much like Clark (Beckham) was last year.”

“I don’t think it takes anything away from La’Porsha, but Trent had momentum.  I have been talking about that for the last four or five weeks.  I think last night’s (performance of) ‘Chandelier’ won it for him.”

In addition to the two finalists, Brochetta also hinted that he may be offering a deal to Top 4 finalist Mackenzie Bourg.

“If you looked on iTunes right now, Mackenzie was the best selling song for the last two (weeks),” he said.

“Our job is to put out records.”
