Derek Hough is being non-committal about when (or if) he will return to DANCING WITH THE STARS.

“I don’t know, we’ll see.” the six time champion tells Glamour.com.   “I’m not sure exactly.”

Derek, 30, decided to sit out the current season after helping Aussie teen sensation Bindi Irwin take home the mirror ball trophy last fall.

“Last season was such a great season and I love her so much,” he told the magazine.

“Going into last season, I felt that excitement. This [time], I was like, ‘I just need to take the time to not just create a career, but to create a life.’ You know what I mean? I needed time to do those things.”

Derek has been making the most of his time.  In addition to presenting at the GLAAD Media Awards and iHeartRadio Music Awards, he also recently taped an appearance on JANE THE VIRGIN and is set to return as Hayden Panettiere‘s love interest on NASHVILLE.

“[There’s] more kissing, more making out with Hayden,” he joked. “It was actually kind of funny because I was really sick when I went back, and as you can tell with my voice, it’s still a little froggy. I was like, ‘Oh gosh, I hope they write that in that I’m [under the weather]!'”

DANCING WITH THE STARS airs Mondays at 8:00 PM on ABC.
