Thought making music was “So Yesterday” for Hilary Duff?
The former Disney channel star (and mother of 2 year-old son Luca) tells me she put recording on hold for a while to appear in the new TV Land comedy series, YOUNGER.
“Being on the show, I had to take a step back from music,” she revealed in an interview yesterday.
“But now that I am not working, I am getting back in the studio. I think I am going to go spend a week in Sweden working [on new songs].”
She even has one tune already in the can.
“I did a song with Ed Sheeran called TATOO,” she says. “It was amazing! I am such a big fan of his. So I heard that demo and I was telling my A&R girl, ‘Don’t let anyone else hear that. I want that song!’
“Then he heard I wanted to do it and he came in and we recorded together and it was amazing.”
YOUNGER — created by Darren Star (SEX AND THE CITY) — follows a single mom (Sutton Foster) who struggles when she is suddenly thrown back into the workforce after lying about her age.
Hilary, 27, plays co-worker Kelsey Peters, who quickly figures out the scam.
The former LIZZIE MCGUIRE star knows much has changed within the music business since she recorded her last CD in 2007.
“I have to evaluate that I am not going to… [Music] is not my only career,” she says.
“It is going to be on a smaller scale than it was before and I have to accept that, which is hard for me.”
“But I want to be on a show and I want to have the best of both worlds.”
YOUNGER premieres January 13 on TVLand.
