‘America’s Best Dance Crew’ Revived By MTV – Will Mario Lopez Return?

All star edition set to air this summer

Americas Best Dance Crew

ABDC is back from the dead!

MTV announced today that it is reviving AMERICA’S BEST DANCE CREW, 14 months after it was unceremoniously axed.

The series, executive produced by AMERICAN IDOL’s Randy Jackson will return this summer.

But it is not looking as if host Mario Lopez will be back.

“We are working on hosts and judges right now,” network programming boss Susanne Daniels told me this afternoon.  “I don’t have anyone confirmed yet.”

ABDC version 2.0 will feature “the best of the best dance crews from previous seasons,” Daniels said.

The decision to resurrect the show came out of a routine development meeting.

“We were talking about shows that you would like to see again — not necessarily MTV shows — and somebody said ‘I loved ABDC’ and then we realized that we had never done a ‘best of’ season.

“So we thought it would be fun to do it in the summer and bring it back as a fun stunt.”

No premiere date has been set yet.
