‘American Idol’: Paula Abdul Comments On Randy Jackson’s Departure

"I just think it is incredible that he has hung in there as long as he has"

Paula Abdul - Cause For Paws

Paula Abdul has finally weighed in on the biggest news story of the week.

No, we’re not talking about Ebola or winter weather.

In case you haven’t heard, Randy Jackson has announced he is leaving AMERICAN IDOL.

Shocker, right?

After all, it has been 13 long seasons, dawg.

He kinda seemed like a lifer on the aging Fox singing competition.

So is Paula — his judging partner for eight seasons — the least surprised?

“I just think it is incredible that he has hung in there as long as he has,” she tells me.  “We were all part of a family that we were very appreciative of.  And you know what?  Life is about change.”

Miss “Straight Up” was just one of the celebs on hand at the taping of CAUSE FOR PAWS:  AN ALL-STAR DOG SPECTACULAR– a show designed to raise awareness of pets in need and encourage pet adoption.

“Growing up we have always rescued dogs in our family,” she said.  “I have four chihuahuas, three of them are rescues.”

“I always say it is a gift to both ends.  It is a gift that reciprocates.  When you think about how these unbelievable innocent creatures could ever be treated in a harmful way or not fed… it is unconcionable.  There are so many people who want beautiful dogs.  They are family members.  They are no different from children.  I don’t have children.  But I used to say I have three — Randy, Simon and Ryan.”

Paula also told me she plans to be back on TV very soon — and not just offering critiques.

“In other areas as well,” she says.  “People forget that I did a lot before being a judges.  I think on my  grave it is going to say ‘Judge.’  What I am is a mentor.  That is what I love doing.”

CAUSE FOR PAWS airs Thanksgiving night on Fox.
