There’s more drama at TODAY.
Just when it looked like the NBC morning program had moved past the bad PR from the sloppy firing of Ann Curry comes a report of an off-camera feud between popular hosts Natalie Morales and Tamron Hall.
At issue: a “power struggle” with fellow host NBC News President Deborah Turness, according to The New York Post.
Morales, who joined the show in 2006, is said to have long been seeking a promotion.
She is co-host of the 9:00 AM hour, but was passed over when it came time to pick Curry’s replacement.
Insiders are telling the paper that Turness is instead considering a promotion for Hall.
That, reportedly, has Morales looking to get out of her NBC contract (which has two more years to go).
“There’s a lot of tension,” a network source is quoted as saying.
“Natalie and Tamron are competitive, and there was a big blowup in October between the two. Deborah has an issue with Natalie and has sided with Tamron. There has been zero communication between Deborah and Natalie for a long period of time. It’s the talk of NBC staff.”
The show’s top producer, in a statement, called the report “total nonsense.”
