‘Dating Naked’: Bride’s Parents Refused To Attend Nude Wedding

They object, Father!

The parents of a woman who met the love of her life on the controversial series DATING NAKED refused to attend their daughter’s nude wedding — which will be televised this week on VH1.

Artist Ashley Fonda, 27, wed “sexual healer” Alika Medeiros, 36, tied the knot — in the buff! — on August 6 in front of two dozen guests, including many DATING NAKED cast members.

Per The New York Post:

The couple’s parents and other family members were not on board with the in-the-buff dress code, however, and were not present.

“My mom is more of a Christian-type person, so getting naked wouldn’t be her cup of tea,” Medeiros says. “She is happy for me but she wouldn’t have wanted to get naked in a ceremony.”

In keeping with the couple’s New-Age views, it was a Shamanic ceremony where guests sat on cushions in a circle, playing drums and other tribal instruments as the bride and groom walked down the aisle — clothed.

“I still wanted to keep a little bit of tradition,” Fonda says. “I definitely wanted to wear a dress.”
They eventually strip down for the ceremony, which includes a sound healing meditation and exchanging of gifts (no rings). Guests partake in naked yoga followed by a banquet of healthy food and dancing.

Post-wedding, the couple are still living in separate states, where they’re both well-networked in their areas of work, but say they may try to live together in the future. And while that don’t have plans to live as nudists, they do credit the wardrobe-free stunt for fostering their connection.

The bride and groom were introduced on an episode that aired August 21 — more than two weeks after their nuptials.

DATING NAKED was a surprise hit for VH1, and just today was picked up for a second season.

THE DATING NAKED wedding special airs Thursday September 18 at 9:00 PM on VH-1.
