Cee Lo Green is saying “Forget You” to the show that made him a household name.
The hip-hop star has announced he is quitting THE VOICE to go on tour with…wait for it…Lionel Richie!
“Im not coming back, you guys,” he announced in an interview on Wednesday’s ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW.
“I don’t want to wear out my welcome there.”
The Gnarls Barkley singer revealed more in a statement issued this morning to Today.com:
“I’m officially announcing today that I won’t be returning as a coach on ‘The Voice’ cycle seven in the fall…There are numerous reasons that led to this decision, which has been amicably reached with NBC…I will not go quietly into the night … expect more great music and entertainment done in my own unique unmistakable and undeniable way. ‘The Voice’ has given me all the altitude and incentive to do just that. Thanks for the memories and make way for many more!”

Cee Lo, 39, is set to appear in the upcoming reality series CEE LO’S GOODIE LIFE on TBS.
During a promotional press conference last month, he was asked about his future with THE VOICE.
“I love the show… I’m human and I have other ambitions that will require my undivided attention… [but] yes, I will gladly go back [to Voice] if they’ll have me.”
NBC has not yet formally announced a replacement, but Usher will be filling the famous red spinning chair when THE VOICE returns for a new season next week.
