Christopher Meloni isn’t looking in the rear view mirror.
Chris — who spent 12 years and 272 episodes as Detective Elliot Stabler on LAW & ORDER: SVU — says he is no longer even interested in tuning in to the NBC cop series.
“I have never seen it,” he told me yesterday. “Not one [episode].”
Chris, 52, left the long-running Dick Wolf series in 2011 after contract negotiations with the network fell through. He was replaced by Danny Pino.
It would make sense that an actor might not want to tune in and see someone else do his job. But Chris tells me he lost interest in watching the finished product long before his sudden exit.
“When you are there 16 hours a day, every day, 9 months of the year, after a while… In the beginning it was for research and to see how thing are going… But after a while it is no longer that,” he says. “And it is not quite entertainment. You are just like, ‘I did it and I just need to be in a different space.’”
Chris is currently starring in a new Fox sitcom called SURVIVING JACK.
No word if he’ll set a season pass for that one.
