CNN: Zucker Standing By Piers Morgan, But Non-Commital About His Show

“I’d like for Piers to continue to be a part of the CNN family and line-up."

Piers Morgan Live

Piers Morgan Live LogoCNN is standing by Piers Morgan.

But the future of his ratings-challenged talk show isn’t looking too bright.

Network boss Jeff Zucker said he wants the former AMERICA’S GOT TALENT judge to remain “a part of the CNN family” — though he seemed to be unwilling/unable to offer more specifics when we spoke yesterday in Pasadena.

PIERS MORGAN LIVE has been flirting with all-time low ratings in recent weeks, averaging little more than 250,000 viewers a night.

And Zucker — who was brought on to turn the network around six months ago — has made no secret that he plans to make big changes in primetime.

So what does this mean for the headline-grabbing Brit?

“I have talked at length with Piers,” Zucker tells me exclusively.  “We are gonna… I’d like for Piers to continue to be a part of the CNN family and line-up.  And until we have something better… Piers will have a home at CNN.”

Until we have something better???  Oy!

Is Zucker saying PML’s days could be numbered and Piers reassigned to another show or status?

“I don’t want to presuppose anything,” he cautioned, “but Piers will continue to be a part of CNN.”

You do the math.
