It’s official!

Demi Lovato confirmed last night that she is indeed quitting THE X FACTOR after this season to focus more on her own music career.

“I’m leaving to start a new chapter in my life,” she told me moments after the live broadcast wrapped.  “I started the show being a singer and a musician and it is time to go back to that. It has been really great but I’m so excited because 2014 I’m going to dedicated entirely to music, touring and making a new album. Possibly releasing one. I’m really really focused and excited.”

“What I’m going to miss the most about this experience is probably being able to sit next to Kelly [Rowland] and Paulina [Rubio],” she said. “They’ve been so incredible to me. Getting to see them twice a week and getting to help mentor contestants achieve their dream. You know, you get emotionally invested in their dreams and you get really passionate about helping them out and wanting them to have an awesome performance.”

Demi joined the show in 2012 along with Britney Spears and immediately emerged as a fan favorite — mostly due to her frequent clashes with fellow judge Simon Cowell.

Simon — who also serves as executive producer — hinted last night that he already has a replacement in mind.

No announcement is expected for at least a few weeks.  In the meantime, here’s more of what Demi had to share:

Will you release your next album in a unique way like Beyoncé just did?
I don’t think I could pull that off. I think Beyoncé is the only woman in the world you could pull that off.

Did Kelly keep it a secret from you?
Yes! I called her the second but I found out and I was like you bitch. She was like what? I was like Beyoncé released an album at midnight tonight and you didn’t tell me. I was like how could you keep that a secret from me. She said I didn’t even know it was dropping tonight. But she was laughing it was funny.

You mentioned earlier in the season you were excited to take the month of January off. With your new goals for 2014, how important is that break?
It is so important to me. I think we might do a few things here and there that I’ve committed to already or that I’m passionate about. When I work so much you don’t get a lot of sleep and I think I really want to get really fit and in shape and just get really healthy. I want to be rested mentally and spiritually I think it’s a month to recharge and I would love to have more than that but I’ve decided to go on tour as well.

Will you be going to a spa to rejuvenate?
I already go to I have a chiropractor come twice a week because I had a really bad body. I got in a car accident [when I was] 13 and it’s so horrible it’s still so fucked up. But I have that and I go to the spa and I take care of myself. I already take care of myself a lot but when you’re so tired and you don’t get to exercise much is you want to get like five hours asleep and you try and wake up to work out and it’s just not happening. It’s going to be great and I’m excited to recharge.

Will you be starting any special diets?
It is just about eating healthy. I think that the word diet is so uncomfortable for me. It should be uncomfortable for a lot of people because they’re such stigma that comes with it related to trying to be a certain way and I think that just eating healthy and eating foods only foods that nourish your body is kind of what I am starting to do.

What is your goal for 2014?
I want this year to be the most incredible here in my life musically. I’ve kind of been building and building up all these years kind of not knowing who I am as an artist and I really want to showcase my vocals and I feel like I haven’t really accomplished that with some of my music and I’m just about to explode and I want to get all of the music out and start the new album and just show people what I really can do and what I’m capable of

Will the new year bring a new look? Maybe a new hair color?
Who knows? Who knows? It will probably be a color on tour but I don’t know which one yet and maybe I might change my mind and go blonder darker whatever. Literally, who knows?
