DWTS: Valerie Harper Eliminated, But May Be Cancer Free

Valerie Harper may finally be cancer free!

“I don’t have any symptoms,” the beloved sitcom star told reporters moments after her bittersweet elimination from ABC’s DANCING WITH THE STARS.

“I might be in a fool’s paradise, but I’m going in for a scan and I’ll talk to the doctors. They’ll tell me what’s going on and if the pills are working as well as I feel they are.”

Harper, 74, said she waited each week until Monday night — after her performance — to take medications prescribed to treat what was originally diagnosed  as terminal brain cancer.

(In March, the actress revealed she could have as little as three months to live.)

“I have been exceedingly lucky that I got through DANCING WITH THE STARS and didn’t die or fall on the floor,” she said Monday night. “Tristan wouldn’t let me fall. He’d throw himself under me and pretend it was a lift!”

The MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW actress will skip the traditional post-show media tour, but says she has a movie project lined up that her husband, Tony Cacciotti, will produce.

“He’s got a couple of wonderful ideas. He’s said to me, ‘Val, keep moving.’”
