So how’s this for a scoop?
Seems TV super-producer Mark Burnett may have to find a new home for his upcoming follow-up to THE BIBLE.
I’m hearing that History channel — which drew tens of millions of viewers for the original mini-series in March — may be taking a pass on Burnett’s next holy series.
The most powerful man in reality TV has been quietly shopping the project, tentatively titled A.D. around town for several weeks.
“It is not a continuation of THE BIBLE, ” he told me for a story in today’s New York Post.
“That’s done. It’s something else that is very related to the Bible.”
Burnett, who produced the original series with wife Roma Downey, first hinted at a spinoff earlier this week.
“I have scripts in my bag [that] I just received today for what’s next,” he told reporters earlier this week.
“It’s going to be a bunch of episodes in the same world because we feel there’s a void and we’re filling that void,” he said.
Burnett says he hopes to eventually screen the original series for the Pope.
