Minaj Releases Sexy Video As ‘Idol’ Ratings Tank

This…is not what AMERICAN IDOL needs right now.

Just as the the family friendly singing show was about to reveal its Top 10 contestants yesterday, judge Nicki Minaj is flashing her boobs and dropping F-bombs in a risqué new music video.

The 3:04 minute clip for hip hop star French Montana’s song “Freaks,” became an instant YouTube sensation, racking up thousands of views in just hours.

In it, the “Starships” singer gyrates seductively in an open gold jacket (with pasties over her nipples) while rapping about graphic sex acts.

An IDOL spokesperson declined to comment about the video, which comes as the aging reality series continues its ratings slide.

Wednesday’s episode brought in 12.7 million viewers — a season low and four million less than last season.

Many longtime fans say they have tuned out since the addition of Minaj, who allegedly talked about shooting fellow judge Mariah Carey earlier in the season.

“(She) is rude her comments are off base, she is giving AMERICAN IDOL a black eye every chance she gets,” one viewer wrote on the show’s official website.

But another defended the controversial star posting:  “I like Nicki.  She has lots of personality and has offered good advice.”

While I have only seen a handful of episodes this season, it is hard not to see the addition of such a loose cannon judge as the beginning of the end this once mighty franchise.

IDOL became a staple of American culture partly because it featured great singers, but also because it brought families together in front of the TV.

Nicki Minaj is not family friendly.  And I guess now we have further proof.

Do you think Nicki Minaj is a good judge for AMERICAN IDOL?  Let us know in the comments section below.
